I finally got around to trying out Pottermore the other night!
And I have to say... I don't care for it. There are lots of interesting tidbits from J.K. Rowling hidden around each chapter that I loved reading but the social and game parts are pretty blah. I have little interest in clicking all over to find sea shells and postcards. And the controls for things like potion brewing are too sensitive/awful to make it any fun. The whole affair reminds me of movie trailer websites -- where they have the trailer, maybe a functioning Fandango widget, some shitty wallpapers and AIM icons, and the some half-assed games that nobody wants to play. Also, there is absolutely NO audio -- no background music, no sound effects, nothing! It's bizarre.
ANYWAY... I did stick it out long enough to be officially sorted and given a wand. The questions from the sorting hat were HARD. Getting sorted made the whole panic of signing up for Pottermore beta totally worth it! I had no idea where I was going to end up. Turns out -- I'm a Slytherin! And my wand has unicorn bits inside of it. At least now I know which house scarf to finally buy off etsy!
I agree! The wand and sorting were easily the best interactive parts... now I just want to read all of JK Rowling's extras.
